Sheffield Garden Walk

A few weekends ago, I went to visit one of my closest friends from Brown University, and his wife in Chicago (again, thanks to frequent flyer miles!).

During my visit I had the opportunity to participate in the 42nd annual Sheffield Garden Walk where I was able to view many of the beautiful private gardens in one of the great neighborhoods of Chicago.  To see this neighborhood from the “inside” was indeed special and allowed me to understand first hand how the urban plan, with all of its unique qualities like side alleys to gain access to garages (in other cities they are called carriage houses), was designed.

90 Broad

As president of Swig Equities I am thrilled to inform my readers that Jones Lang and Lasalle will be the leasing agent for 90 Broad Street.  This particular building was constructed in 1930 and designed by Cook and Cook.  The property is a spectacular prewar building with a magnificent lobby, and contains 400,000 square feet within its 25 stories. In addition, the building is free standing and has windows on all four sides.  Jones Lang and Lasalle were picked as the leasing agent because we believe in their talents and look forward to working with their leasing brokers who have shown their dedication and commitment to Swig Equities’ vision of providing great customer service.

Brown University Rugby Match

Kent M. Swig with Jay Fluck, Brown University Rugby Coach

I had the wonderful pleasure of returning to my alma mater Brown University to participate in the annual undergraduate vs. alumni Commencement Rugby match on May 29th.   The experience of going back to Brown was a big thrill for me.  I think everyone has some fond memories of college and for me playing rugby at Brown will always remain a great memory that I will cherish.  Rugby has a reputation as being an extremely physically demanding game – and it is, but what most people don’t know is that Rugby teaches you mental toughness.   Later in my real estate career I realized that the lessons I learned while playing for the Brown Rugby team were also applicable in the business world.
